Overview

In order to enhance on-site safety, Blakley Electrics have produced a series of Mains Distribution Assemblies (MDAs) fitted with test sockets, which enable a range of installation tests to be carried out live and with a very high degree of safety. The fitting of test sockets eliminates the need to remove shield plates or terminal covers and allows essential testing of RCDs and the measurement of earth fault loop impedance, etc., to be carried out safely and with minimal disruption to a project.

Incoming Device

On the live side of the incoming MCCB / RCD, 4 no. 4.0mm panel mounted test sockets (L1, L2, L3, N) are provided to facilitate voltage testing and measurement of the earth fault loop impedance of the supply.

On the load side of the incoming MCCB / RCD, 2 no. 4.0mm panel mounted test sockets are provided for voltage testing and for RCD testing (one phase and neutral only – additional phase sockets can be provided if required).

A common earth socket is provided in the incoming section, which can be used for voltage, earth fault loop impedance or RCD testing purposes.

Outgoing Devices

Each outgoing MCCB / RCD is provided with 2 no. 4.0mm panel mounted test sockets for voltage testing and for RCD testing (one phase and neutral only – additional phase sockets can be provided if required). Each distribution compartment is fitted with a common earth socket

All phase test sockets are protected by BS88 fuses located behind the MDA inset plates. All test sockets are mounted on brackets allowing sockets to protrude through the inset plate without impeding removal of the inset plate when required.
