400A Manual Changeover Switch

Manual changeover switch assembly rated at 400A, three-phase and neutral. The assembly is presented in a wall mounting, weatherproof enclosure and is designed to accept two hard wired supplies, (i) from the mains and (ii) from a back-up supply, typically fed from a stand-by generator. A set of outgoing terminals is housed in a segregated compartment. See drawing A37616 for the general arrangement.

Enclosure
Robust, wall mounting sheet steel enclosure of seam welded construction providing protection to IP55. The enclosure incorporates a projecting rain roof and has separate side hinged padlockable doors to the incoming and outgoing compartments. Removable gland plates are fitted in the underside of each compartment for incoming and outgoing cables. The enclosure is protected against corrosion by a high quality, outdoor finish comprising of a zinc phosphate pre-treatment followed by electrostatically applied and oven dried polyester powder paint, shade Dark Admiralty Grey (BS 4800 shade 18B25). If assemblies are to be installed in corrosive atmospheres, enclosures can be fabricated from stainless steel. Please contact us for further details. Equipment
Fitted with a Schneider FXM400, Compact INS400 switch disconnector, which performs as a manual source changeover switch, mechanically interlocked to prevent both incoming supplies from feeding the outgoing terminals at the same time. The changeover switch is rated at 400A 4 pole and feeds a common set of outgoing heavy duty terminals mounted in a segregated compartment. The switch operating handle is located behind a padlockable door.

Terminations
The incoming terminals of the changeover switch incorporate bare end connectors, which will allow 2 no. cables per phase and neutral to be terminated each with a cross section of up to 240mm2. The outgoing connections are via M10 x 50mm stud terminals.
