Overview

We produce a standard range of CT Chambers, in ratings from 800A to 2000A, specifically designed to meet the requirements of SSE installations. A prime requirement is the ability to be able to terminate the bunched wavecon cables commonly used by SSE.

Our standard range begins at 800A and incorporates a termination arrangement for 7 no. cables, in accordance with SSE drawing HO/65/037. We also offer units rated at 1250A and 1600A with a termination arrangement to the same SSE drawing. In addition we offer a standard 2000A CT chamber with the facility to terminate 11 no. bunched wavecon cables to SSE drawing HO/65/084.

We have also manufactured non-standard versions rated at 2500A with an incoming termination arrangement to drawing HO/65/084. We have made standalone 2500A CT chambers, as well as assemblies that combine a CT chamber with a main MCCB, switch disconnector or RCD (for Temporary Builders Supplies). For outdoor applications we can supply combined units housed within a sturdy GRP kiosk.

On a recent project for a 2000A CT chamber, to enable very large outgoing cables to be terminated, there was the requirement for a 1000mm extension box to increase the distance from the gland plate to the outgoing terminals. The extension box increased the overall height to 2.6m. The outgoing terminations were uprated to allow 4 no. outgoing cables per phase to be terminated. The incoming terminals were configured to receive 11 no. cables through the underside in accordance with SSE drawing HO/65/084.

In addition to manufacturing CT chambers with termination arrangements to SSE drawings HO/65/037 and HO/65/081, we have also made CT chambers (and combined units) with termination arrangements to SSE drawing HO/65/081, which also terminate 11 no. single core cables.
