Overview
Over the last few years we have seen a significant increase in demand for high current, outdoor distribution assemblies, whether for permanent or temporary installation. We have also seen product specifications become much more onerous, in terms of the electrical performance, as well as mechanical aspects, such as the internal segregation between functional units and bus bars. In order to meet these demands, we have developed a modular range of high current distribution assemblies, in ratings from 1600A to 4000A, with an ASTA certified short circuit rating of 100kA.
Given the different markets that we serve (heavy industry, construction, events), the modular enclosure design enables us to meet many different switchgear requirements. The incoming switchgear arrangement was tested with a Schneider MTZ series ACB and on the outgoing side, Schneider NSX and NS series MCCBs were both tested, allowing us to incorporate MCCBs with a 100kA breaking capacity rated up to 1000A (above 1000A the breaking capacity of the NS MCCB reduces to 70kA). Outgoing MCCBs can be equipped with a range of trips and also provided with variable RCD protection. Metering, surge protection devices, test sockets, etc., can all be incorporated.
Enclosures provide protection to IP55 with cable entry and exit through the underside. The height of the stand is dependent on the cable types to be terminated i.e. single core or multicore, flexible or armoured. Enclosures can be fabricated from mild steel or various grades of stainless steel. Dependent on the overall specification, different levels of internal segregation can be accommodated up to Form 4b Type 7. MCCB compartments are fully sealed from each other, to ensure any discharge from arc chutes is contained within one compartment and does not contaminate the overall assembly, compromising creepage and clearance distances, etc.
